July 2008 - The Festival - Lecture
The Castle is looking great both
inside and out. Here one of the
many Griffins for the gardens
Some of the detail from the
dinning room below
The stair case is fully restored. Peggy looks at home here!
Some detail
from just
one of the
beds. This
one is a four
poster (as
many of
them are)
and is a
copy of bed
originally
made for the
king of
Denmark
This place is
pure luxury.
All the
on-suits
have baths (I
think) and all
are huge....
Again you
have to see
the fantastic
work that
has been
done
The piano
and the view
from the
dinning room
The roof window that is over the stairs. When the first efforts
were made to restore the castle, a tree was growing where I was
standing when taking this picture. It is long gone of course but it
gives a hint as to the work involved is saving this local treasure
We had a huge
crowd for the
lecture, so
much so we
had to start
turning people
away from 45
minutes before
the start of  the
lecture. Clearly
there is a huge
interest in the
Castle.
Paddy
Fenton gave
the lecture
and it was
very highly
regarded by
all. That's
Paddy on
the stage,
but what is
Pat Casey
up to?
Two views from the Library. Above with some of the guests
and right before they arrived.
Some of the
lucky 130
who actually
got to visit the
castle.
Some views from outside. Above a
gargoyle looks towards Castle H.
Above right another looks towards the
Hill of Ardpatrick. On the right a view
from the front..... Okay I admit it, I like
the gargoyles.
The very
